Operation Christmas Child

Ever thought that a simple shoe box with small gifts could make a huge difference?

Bayside Church annually supports Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign and calls for local businesses, schools, sporting groups and individuals to help put a smile on a child in third world conditions.

Shoe boxes are due in October every year.

The shoeboxes can be filled with toys, school supplies, items for personal hygiene and clothing. Many children who receive a Christmas box have never received a gift before and their parents are not in a position to give.

This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, but a hands-on project that has the power to transform lives. It is a fantastic way to teach children in particular what the true spirit of Christmas is all about.

Operation Christmas Child is an initiative by Samaritan’s Purse. Last year alone the Australian and New Zealand teams delivered more than 300,000 shoe boxes to South East Asia and the South Pacific. Globally Samaritan’s Purse distributes 7.6 million shoeboxes to children in 105 countries each year.

Since 1998, Bayside Church has been a part of Operation Christmas Child. In 2012 the church provided 1175 boxes to children in South East Asia. In 2013 it reached over 2500 children. It is a simple and effective way to make a huge difference in a child’s life.
